Communication Skills and NLP.

 Guidelines, Planning, Boundaries  LC

Planning and guidelines for self assessment, clarification of your goals and direction.  There will be plenty of practice with real or typical cases with role plan and different situations.

 Mindsets and Timelines  LC

Changing mindsets that may be holding you back.  This can be used for working with businesses or groups as well as on a one to one basis.  NLP techniques are shown to change or reframe negative beliefs and thinking.  Goal setting is used using timelines.

 Psychology of Selves and Relationships

This is a practical sessions using g to access inner resources and gain new perspectives  of  patterns of behaviour in relationships.    It is especially useful in finding the root cause of issues in all kinds of relationships, old patterns and to release them.

Effective Strategies and Stress Management. 12th September

Also included is assertiveness training, anger management and time management.  Looking also at cognitive approaches and useful stress  reduction techniques.

Presentation Skills & Public Speaking, Building your Business  3rd October

Public speaking, performance anxiety, presentation skills, marketing and building your business is the main subject. This is especially useful for you in promoting yourself as well as helping with issues such as wedding speeches etc. You will be able to put together a presentation and proposal with reference to promoting your business and identify specific and appropriate marketing connected to your niche market and identify necessary professional codes and standards etc. Useful handouts and techniques are included.

CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT Training Syllabus: over 8 Tuesday evenings from 7.00 – 9.30.

remaining dates: 4th, 11th, 18th,25th, July and 1st and 8th August

New course commences on 15th August on Tuesday Evenings over 8 sessions.

Optional practice and supervision sessions at £20.
It is organised by the Kent College of Hypnotherapy.  The training is designed to be an addition to existing counselling or hypnotherapy training. You will receive a Diploma in CBT outlining your skills and knowledge from the Kent College of Hypnotherapy.
 This training can also be adapted to in house training for your staff with no previous knowledge required.  However there will be an attendance certificate awarded.

 What is CBT?

CBT: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the psychotherapeutic approach which is used by psychologists and therapists to help promote positive change in individuals, to help alleviate emotional distress, and to address a myriad of psycho/social/behavioural issues. Aaron T Beck, a Professor of Psychiatry, developed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy during the 1960’s and it has continued to grow within the medical field since that date with growing evidenced based treatment for a number of common conditions from anxiety to depression.

CBT is based on the Cognitive Model of Emotional Response.

Cognitive-behavioural therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviours, not external things, like people, situations, and events.  The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel / act better even if the situation does not change. Cognitive Behavioural therapists identify and treat difficulties arising from an individual’s irrational thinking, misperceptions, dysfunctional thoughts, and faulty learning.

What is the difference between CBT and other talking therapies.

CBT tends to deal with the ‘here and now’ – how your current thoughts and behaviours are affecting you now. It recognises that events in your past particularly thought patterns and behaviours learned in childhood have shaped the way that you currently think and behave. However, it does not dwell on the past, but aims to find solutions to how to change your thoughts and behaviours so that you can function better in the future.

Can be used for: Anger; Addiction; General anxiety disorders including panic attacks;  Depression; Eating disorders; Obsessive-compulsive disorder; Pain management; Performance anxiety; Phobias; Post-traumatic-stress disorder; Sports performance; Stress management.

Course Overview:

This CBT Training Course is organised by the Kent College of Hypnotherapy. The training is non-accredited; however it can be used as an additional tool if you are a Hypnotherapist or Counsellor and this will be recognised by a Diploma qualification.

 Changing  Negative Habits & CBT

We will be looking at the way underlying thought patterns and our rules affect us.   There will be an introduction to the CBT model including a typical session and an overview of Cognitive Behavioural Approaches and how this can be used on its own and with other therapies.   This session will focus on habits and behaviours and is suitable for use with children as well as adults.   By the end of the session you will be able to identify, analyse and evaluate automatic thoughts.  Discuss and use a DTR form so that you can identify alternative thoughts and be able to assess how this may change behaviours and emotions.

Evaluation and Communication

Clear communication skills using CBT and also Neuro Linguistic Programming will be shown together with the use of effective questioning techniques.  There will be plenty of practice on working with each other on your own thoughts and case histories may be used instead of personal issues.  We will be using Assessment forms to evaluate progress; and also a Depression and Anxiety Inventory.  Cognitive parts therapy and NLP approaches will be included with the CBT.

Rules & Assumptions and stress factors.

We often make rules and assumptions for ourselves (Intermediate beliefs and Rules) and this puts unnecessary pressure on us and stress.  You will be able to identify these beliefs and evaluate the evidence of either your own assumptions or a case history and practice how these can be modified so that new more useful rules or beliefs can be put in their place.  This also includes thoughts like should and ought and the pressure and stress this produces in our lives.  We will be Planning for Successful  Outcomes and to  Eliminate self-sabotage.  Time Management is also included as we often put off or avoid to help us feel safe.   Life Coaching skills will be included.

How our Core Beliefs impact on our lives

We will be discovering and working with core beliefs.  These can impact on our health, wellbeing and achievements, so we will be using strategies and drawing from other techniques such as NLP and Psychology of Selves as well as CBT approaches.  There will be a demonstration of a typical session using these approaches and looking at ways of addressing negative core beliefs.  By the end of the session you will understand how to help your client make these changes and gain insights to various problems and illnesses.

Coping strategies, Solutions and Outcomes

CBT Techniques and coping strategies will be used to identify a problem and change it into a goal to provide solutions and develop activities.  There will be included additional CBT therapeutic techniques and treatments including Converting a client’s problem into a SMART goal in harmony with their values and identify problem solving techniques using various worksheets.  You will learn how to construct and develop a coping card activity chart and monitor chart.   There will be a summary of the whole of the course.
